September 8 ELD Deadline: Check FMCSA’s Revoked Devices List Now

A September 8 deadline is approaching for motor carriers using 10 electronic logging devices that FMCSA revoked on July 9, 2026. The agency removed the devices from its registered list after their providers failed to meet federal technical requirements.

FMCSA instructed affected carriers to discontinue using the revoked devices, use paper logs or compliant logging software to record hours of service, and replace the devices with compliant ELDs from the agency’s Registered Devices list before September 8.

Beginning September 8, a carrier that continues using one of the affected devices may be treated as operating without an ELD. FMCSA says safety officials should cite the violation and place the driver out of service under the applicable criteria. Carriers should check the official revoked and registered device lists rather than assume their provider remains approved.
